Applications for FREE Smoke Detectors Available in Neighborhood Food Banks
City: Fort Wayne
Fort Wayne residents who visit an Associated Churches' food pantry within the city limits will be able to fill out a Smoke Alarm Request Form. These forms have been provided by the Fort Wayne Fire Department and will be available until the supply of detectors is depleted.
Qualifying households will receive dual sensor smoke detectors with a long life battery that will be installed by FWFD personnel. If the resident's current detectors are in working order but are over 10 years old, the FWFD recommends that they be replaced.
Captain Dave Meadows, of the FWFD Safety Education Division, explains, "This partnership with Associated Churches will allow the FWFD to expand the smoke alarm program to citizens that may not have been previously aware of it."
